A 3,500 sq ft residence for a family of four, set at the edge of a mountain with unobstructed views to the sea. The 40,000 sq ft site is characterised by its natural olive groves, with only a handful of neighbouring suburban residences visible from the plot. The architecture is composed as four cubic volumes arranged in a cross formation, connected by a lower rectangular element that anchors the composition at ground level.

What this project taught the engine

The lesson in this project was about the input, not the output. The studio developed its understanding of how much could be extracted from a designer's rough collage: mood boards, sketched overlays and fragments of intent, taken in aggregate and resolved into a finished visual that preserves the original feeling. The discipline required is not a software skill; it is a reading skill. Read the collage carefully. Understand what is already there. Then let the tools amplify it. That process is embedded in i/o spark, but it began here as close attention to another designer's thinking.

Scene Cinemas

The first cinema is a stage. The lobby is the show.
